looks like price increases are coming

LOL they could lower prices 28% and it would still be way more than I'm willing to pay. Thankfully there are a lot of people whose fortunes and/or priorities are such that they consider Leica gear worth whatever Leica decides to ask...and thankfully a lot of those people are somewhat fickle when it comes to photo gear. So there's always plenty of barely-touched Leica gear on the used market. Win-win-win.

Its also odd if you follow the 2nd hand market when prices for the M240 have become a lot more affordable in recent months. My salary would need to increase 10% each year on year to keep up with these annual price increases ... not an encouraging trend.

Meanwhile Sony does something interesting that changes the game a little. Na ja.

According to La Vida Leica!, these are Euro prices and probably reflect the decline in the currency these past few months. Can only imagine what they will cost in rubles...

In the US, there have been steep discounts and a proliferation of QM2 samples as well for even less. A US dealer was offering a 50 Lux for $3000, an MM for $6000 and 50 APO for $7300. All with the 3-year passport warranty. Most of these are now gone. The sizable discounts for the NIB bodies and lenses runs until the end of January.

My local Leica Dealer is selling the M240 with £500 instant cashback, making it £4150, so it must be a UK wide offer. A further sign that something new is on the horizon for later in the year.

Only got 10 days left to announce something then :)

dumb question from an American --> do the EURO prices indicated in the link reflect VAT or would the VAT of the relevant local country be added to this?

The shown prices represent 119% of net of tax prices (the VAT rate is 19% in Germany).
