Frapiscide Posted October 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently bought a Summarit M 35mm f2.5 lens second hand and it lacked the thread protector for the threads for the hood. While the lens has a UV/IR filter for my M8 which protects the threads from bumps fairly well, is it possible to get the thread protector alone? Alternatively, does anyone know the thread pitch so I could turn an aluminum ring to cover the threads? Advertisement Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Hi Frapiscide, Take a look here 35mm/50mm Summarit Thread Protector Source?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adan Posted October 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted October 10, 2014 Those rings count as "replacement parts", like replacement red dots for the lens barrel - i.e. they are not "products" that can be ordered like a complete lens or camera. So you need to contact the service & repair department of your regional Leica distributor, or repair and service at the Leica factory. In the USA, it would be Leica USA in New Jersey. I've gotten the red dots and replacement plastic inserts for film-M frame preview levers from Leica USA - usually free.
TomB_tx Posted October 10, 2014 Share #3 Posted October 10, 2014 Yes, I got the protector and cap from Leica NJ for my used Summarit.
Frapiscide Posted October 10, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted October 10, 2014 Called up Leica NJ and have one ordered. Should come in a couple of weeks due to them waiting on a shipment. It was $24 but compared to other things Leica, that's dirt cheap.
