Advertisement Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Hi gberger, Take a look here Zeiss has a new 35mm 1.4 ZM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
alan.y Posted September 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 16, 2014 I can't find it. Do you have a link?

Hannes Lummes Posted September 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 16, 2014 Distagon T* 1,4/35 ZM | ZEISS International
Hannes Lummes Posted September 16, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2014 So, it is very long, has absolutely hideous amount of vignetting, but resolution seems good. I don't know...I hope it has some special properties not seen before.
satijntje Posted September 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2014 They are getting close to Leica prices these days :-( John
tookaphotoof Posted September 16, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) You know the price of a new 35mm Summilux?
satijntje Posted September 16, 2014 Share #8 Posted September 16, 2014 yes I do!
tookaphotoof Posted September 16, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2014 B&H sells the Summilux 35mm for $5,150 and the Zeiss 1.4 for $2,290. They have a Summicron for $3,195 which is still a lot more. Assuming you need 1.4, how's that coming close to Leica prices?
indergaard Posted September 16, 2014 Share #10 Posted September 16, 2014 I wonder if it shares much of the same design that the also newly announced Distagon T* 35/1.4 for Sony's FE mount has. Probably, since it's the same design, focal length and aperture. It'll be interesting to compare them!
jaapv Posted September 16, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2014 It should be a good lens at a decent price (relatively ) but it is a bit on the bulky side. I wonder how Zeiss can call it compact.
indergaard Posted September 16, 2014 Share #12 Posted September 16, 2014 It should be a good lens at a decent price (relatively ) but it is a bit on the bulky side. I wonder how Zeiss can call it compact. It is compact compared to the FE mount version which was announced yesterday as well. It's the third lens from the left. Absolutely enourmous. About the same size as the 24-240 powerzoom on the far left. What the eff!!:
tookaphotoof Posted September 16, 2014 Share #13 Posted September 16, 2014 It's small compared to my Zeiss ze and cfe lenses.
Hannes Lummes Posted September 16, 2014 Share #14 Posted September 16, 2014 The size and weight are acceptable, but when I look at the vignetting data I have to wonder if I wanted to use that lens. Bokeh will also be underdeveloped anywhere but in the center.
Paul J Posted September 16, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 16, 2014 It aint the prettiest looking thing but it seems like a decent all rounder at a relatively good price to me.
microview Posted September 16, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Presumably 'zoom' on B&H web page should read 'ZM'. Price is about the same as for the new 35 Summarit ASPH which could be a 'cron killer'. B&H seems confident this has E46 rather than E39m thread (and that the hood is now included). Hannes Lummes Posted September 16, 2014 Share #17 Posted September 16, 2014 ...and actually for those who care about resolution it seems to be the best M system 35mm ever.
lct Posted September 16, 2014 Share #18 Posted September 16, 2014 87mm long? Taller than a Summicron 90, thanks no thanks.
Ivar B Posted September 16, 2014 Share #19 Posted September 16, 2014 MTF curves look impressive - as good as Summicron and Summilux 35mm lenses it seems.
mawe3000 Posted September 16, 2014 Share #20 Posted September 16, 2014 Zeiss measures are including caps. Extension from flange should be less approx. 25mm, so it's about the size of the CV 35/1.2 (and 90g lighter).
