Jeffry Abt Posted September 4, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) The lens or lenses you most regret selling ... What are yours? Mine are 28mm, ASPH Cron and the 75mm ASPH APO Cron. My only consolation is that they are probably making some photographer 'out there' happy. When I do sell a lens, it is generally for the purpose of financing another purchase. Nevertheless, I have sworn off selling Leica lenses!

Photomek Posted September 4, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 4, 2014 Mine is the Elmarit-M 2,8/28 Asph, an amazing quality in a very small package. I had only to give it away to finance the Summicron-M 2/35 Asph. for my M8. Sometime in the future I would like to upgrade to a M9 and with the Summicron 35 it will be an even greater kit. I've dreamed of the Summicron-M 2/28 Asph for my M8 but it is too expensive.
spydrxx Posted September 4, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 4, 2014 My first Leica Lens which I used for about 20 years, a 35mm f/2.8 Summaron. I got the sharpness fever and traded up to more modern designs...which were great in the sharpness category, but lacked the familiarity to which I had grown accustomed.
microview Posted September 4, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 4, 2014 £5 2.8 Summaron – mine was incredibly sharp (equalled the much admired Zeiss 35 2/8 ZM I had, so I sold the latter). Only issue was the close focus limit. Then I found a v4 Summicron in nice condition, thought I'd save some money so sold the Summaron, and now wish I hadn't! Possibly the forthcoming (?) ZM 35 1.4 will have comparable performance but not at a Summilux price.

Jaybob Posted September 4, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 4, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) 80 R Summilux, and R APO 180...I bought them SUPER cheap at an auction and then flipped them almost immediately for a huge profit, but I still regret it. I never mounted either one of them on a camera.

platypus Posted September 4, 2014 Share #14 Posted September 4, 2014 I'm not one for ever entertaining regrets, but......the Nocti 0.95 haunts me. It was too big and cumbersome and I was avoiding using it, and it did fund the 35 & 75 Luxes, but still..........
graphlex Posted September 5, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 5, 2014 Lemon Camera ed. (ca.1999) chrome LTM 50mm Summilux. At 380 grams, a little heavy for the IIIg, or so I thought at the time...
IWC Doppel Posted September 5, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 5, 2014 Interesting question, I dont regret selling any so far, I might regret selling my 90mm Elmairt-M f2.8 as it was mint and I had it serviced and coded. Don't regret selling 35mm Summicron ASPH, 75mm Summarit, 50mm summulix (I changed to a 0.7mm focus E46 version). Nearly sold my 18mm f3.8 with finder but still have it
jaapv Posted September 5, 2014 Share #17 Posted September 5, 2014 Two really. The MATE as prices exploded the year after I sold it and the Summilux 75 as I miss the rendering of that lens.
stephen.w Posted September 5, 2014 Share #18 Posted September 5, 2014 Only sold two -- a very nice, mint Summaron 35/3.5, which was my first Leica lens. I only paid 200 Euro for it, and should have kept it. Instead I traded it towards a Zeiss 35/2. I have only today traded the latter in turn towards a new 35/1.4 FLE, which my local dealer has somehow made affordable to me. That will be the end of the road for me as far as 35 mm lenses go. The poor man buys twice (or thrice, in my case:)).

I've dreamed of the Summicron-M 2/28 Asph for my M8 but it is too expensive. Yes , my new 28 2.8 ASPH is wonderful. F 2.0 is better, but double the size with a big fat lens shade and finder blockage. Appreciate the 2.8. I almost sold a 35 V4 for the current ASPH. Testing shows that to would have been an error for my purposes. It is slightly better into the corners at F 2, but has other issues. They are almost 20 years old now and I may see a replacement. If not, oh well. Current kit is 21 pre ASPH, 28 2.8 ASPH, 35 V4, 50 and 90 current collapsible, 75 APO, 50 Lux current, 135 Tele Elmar 4.0, various older lenses all mint. I know better than to sell them.
