helged Posted August 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have a 50 Summilux-M version 4 (latest non-APO version) with somewhat uneven friction when turning the focussing ring. So I guess it's time for some cleaning and lubrication. Any experiences with cost at Solms or elsewhere?
Advertisement Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Hi helged, Take a look here 50 Cron CLA cost. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DigitalHeMan Posted August 16, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 16, 2014 Wil van Manen at kamera service in the Netherlands (http://www.kamera-service.info) offers good service and quick turn around. I think a basic CLA costs ~95, plus 15 for the grease and 15€ handling charge. The total invoice amount for a recent CLA on a 90mm cron was 151.25 euros (110+15+21%BTW). There would also be shipping costs on top if that. You can contact him via his website to confirm latest prices, but they are a lot more reasonable than Leica.
Leicakillen Posted August 16, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2014 Will van Manen added 6-bit-code (85€), adjusted the focus (75€) and cleaned (85€) my Elmarit 90 the other week (Handling cost 15€ + taxes). Very reasonable costs I think. Turn-around and service was very fast. Good communication, answering e-mails directly, I got a very good impression and I will return to him again later. Cost for return transport to Stockholm was though very high (80€). I would like to recommend van Manen for Leica-work. /Anders

DigitalHeMan Posted August 16, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 16, 2014 What service was that shipped with? I presume a dedicated courier? As Jan says, using the Dutch post service is a lot cheaper normally, even with insurance it wouldn't cost more than 25 or 30€
mirekti Posted August 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 16, 2014 If no issues, how often would one send a lens for CLA?
Leicakillen Posted August 17, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I forgot to mention one other advantage of van Manen over Leica CS: you are able to communicate directly with the technician (Will) that is working with your object. When I have been dealing with Leica CS, there has always been someone in between, a nice person, but the information is indirect. I had a couple of questions re what was possible or not with my Elmarit and Will could after a couple of mails explain.... /Anders Will van Manen added 6-bit-code (85€), adjusted the focus (75€) and cleaned (85€) my Elmarit 90 the other week (Handling cost 15€ + taxes). helged Posted August 18, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted August 18, 2014 Cost for return transport to Stockholm was though very high (80€). The reason for the high shipping cost is that Kamera-Service uses UPS (same as Leica-Solms, by the way). For Norway (non-EU member), the shipping is even higher: 115 EURO...
skinnfell Posted August 20, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2014 I had my v4 50/2 calibrated and 6bit coded via Leica Norway for a total of 4900 nkr. The lens ended up "like new". This took about two months.
