Been waiting about 2 years to see a new Leica 50mm f/2 APO Summicron at my local dealer here in Baltimore - Service Photo. Got the call today - they received their first one today. Unfortunately, I am unable to take the $8250 plunge right now. So, I was unable to shoot with the lens or take it out of the packaging. But, I was impressed with the way that Leica has packaged this lens - and it will surely be a super sharp gem for a lucky Leica Photographer. Very envious indeed.

Have bought it from Amazon. Thanks for point it. It is strange for me why Amazon did not notified me (I was signed for news). I had an order on BHP, but was stupid enough to order it just after the price increasing. So nothing to loose here.

There is one more on Amazon. So who didn`t order it with old price - hurry up.

You've made 4 total posts on the forum, spanning almost five years, each one mentioning a different (and very expensive) Leica M camera or lens that the same dealer had but you couldn't buy.

I sure hope you've actually been taking pics with something in all that time. :)

More seriously, there are lots of affordable used Leica M products available….not so much at Service Photo, which is a fine dealer, but doesn't really do much Leica business. Those more affordable products still do a marvelous job.

They have been popping up on Amazon often from third party vendors over the past few weeks, I don't think Amazon notifes you when a third party vendor posts something for sale. I saw the Service Photo one and refused to buy it with the new price on an old order. Reloading the page on Amazon after seeing the Service Photo ad brought up one at $7350 which I promptly purchased.

I think some of the smaller Leica dealers play games when price increases are announced. And others that post above retail for hard to find gear will never get my future business. Its of course their perogative, it just doesn't sit well with me.

In looking at the OP's other posts... Hello Service Photo.

Fair enough. I would not think if I was stupid or no to buy this for new price, as I have ordered it with BHP just after increase. So for me it is luck to get one earlier:) as for spam messages, I also looked in the history of the author and it seems obvious, who is author. As with Amazon I did not know this, that they do not notify, maybe if i knew, would get lens a week ago. But it is all not important, I am happy to have new very expensive toy in few days:)

I actually wish the packaging were smaller so it would take up less storage space. Same with the Noctilux, 21/1.4 and 24/1.4. Guess we will have to put up with huge boxes for the black 28/1.4 when it arrives too.

and, my hunch, a price tag of ~$7,995.

Interesting that Leica have not released the spec sheet yet on the 28/1.4. I wonder why, given that it has settled on a production (stainless) model?

At least they got the pricing figured out for the silver "kit".
