Some questions that i want to ask forum friends here: 1,My friends mentioned these three , M28/2 ,M28-35-50/4 ,Noctilux M50/1.0 V4 , but i don't know what's the difference between them ?? What kind of lenses should i choose to fit my M9? 2,Since my budget is not so high about the lenses, where can i buy a lens for my M9 on line with fair price ? thank you all !!!!! Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the purchase. Your friend mentioned M-mount lenses, hence the "M" preceding the focal length / followed by the widest aperture. M28/2 - Leica 28mm F/2.0 Summicron* M28-35-50/4 - Medium Angle Tri Elmar (MATE); one lens with three focal lengths (28mm, 35mm, 50mm) all with a starting aperture of f/4 Noctilux M50/1.0 V4 - Leica 50mm f/1 fourth version/update Noctilux *Lens name nomenclature: For modern Leica lenses, the names correspond with the starting aperture value. Summicron = f/2 Summilux = f/1.4 Noctilux = faster than f/1.4, typically f/1 or f/0.95 Your friend's recommended some fantastic lenses. However, the cost of each is at least the same as the cost of a used M9. Any one of these lenses would make for a fantastic first lens, but it really comes down to the focal length(s) you like using. I like 50mm lenses and am biased towards them. To many, the 35mm frame lines work best in the current/digital Leica viewfinders. Wider than 28mm, you need an external viewfinder, and longer than 90mm results in difficulty framing your composition. Perhaps a good place to start us by renting lenses. Lensrentals enjoys a good reputation, but there are other options as well. When I got the M9 (my first Leica RF) in 2009, all Leica lenses were sold out and not an option with paying a premium that resulted in used lenses costing more than new versions of the same lens. So I started with a Voigtlander 50mm f/1.5 and Zeiss 50mm f/2. Both are fantastic, and I still use both regularly dispite having added the 50mm Summilux (current version). You've got a lot of reading to do, and this forum has a wealth of information and some very helpful members and moderators. Assuming you have some experience with cameras and lens focal lengths, start with your historic preference and examine modestly priced options in that focal length. If cost is an issue, consider a good used lens from an earlier period, such as an older 50mm Summicron. A good Leica dealer would be best for you because you should get some kind of warranty. If you don't know the difference between those three lenses I strongly suggest you contact Leica or look on their website, or talk to your nearest Leica dealer about attending one of Leica's workshops tailored for newcomers to the brand. There you will be able to use different lenses (although not the 28-35-50, it's sadly discontinued) and also get some handy tips on using the Leica. If you don't have prior experience with film M's, this could jump you way ahead on the learning curve and make your entry into Leica photography a lot more pleasant. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Nowhere, except maybe in a dark alley behind the pub. Any of these lenses will set you back (many) thousands of Dollars/Euros. You will have to do a rethink. What is your budget? Note that the cost of Leica lenses can go from half the cost of your M9 to many muiltiples Those lenses mentioned are at the upper end of cost, second hand in the UK good copies would be around £1,800, £2,800 and £3,999 respectively, whereas a good condition M9 can be anything from £2300 to £3000. I would first decide which is going to be your main used focal length, if you have one, and tend to spend the most there. In terms of excellent performance at those focal lenses for a more reasonable price but still excellent performance you could look at Leica 28mm f2.8 ASPH, Leica 35mm f2.5 Summarit or Zeiss 35mm f2.8 ZM, Leica 50mm f2 Summicron or Zeiss 50mm f2 ZM I recommend reaserching the different lenses, e.g. by buying the Leica pocket book or subscribing to reidreviews.com to see reviews/comparisons of different lenses good luck! You obviously need lenses to get started.... and in my own humble opinion get a 35mm first.... and use it. I highly recommend the Voigtlander Leica mount lenses offered by CameraQuest.... google the sight. They are affordable excellent quality lenses..... and I DO mean excellent !
