DL109 - Faulty Diopter Correction!

Recommended Posts

Just received my new Dlux

Unfortunately the diopter correction of the EVF doesn’t work at all. The image is clear without glasses but with glasses (my normal “mode of operation”) it is totally out of focus and turning the wheel all the way in both directions doesn’t make a difference.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Caveat to sharp-eyed folks: if you don’t wear glasses you might not notice the problem.

Now waiting to hear from my dealer on sending it back...

Thank you all again for your suggestions. I did try the "maneuver" you described with no success a few times. Judging by the LX100 blog/thread you linked to, LCT, I am not alone in not having been able to fix the problem.

It's possible that I needed to exert more force or something, but at the end I don't know that I would feel confident with this sort of "fix" anyway, even if it had worked. I mean, it's supposed to work out of the box, not by use of force! And how do you know it won't go out of whack again, etc etc.

I preferred to return the camera. A new one, tested by the dealer, is on its way to me now.

If anyone in UK has the problem, take/send it to Leica Mayfair for adjustment

My DL109 arrived today from B&H, and my anticipation turned to disappointment. The diopter adjustment apparently does nothing, the EVF just stays blurry and unchanged. I tried cycling the adjustment wheel fully numerous times, to no avail. I pushed as hard as I dared at both extreme ends, still no joy.

I called B&H and spoke with technical assistance, but they were unable to provide any correction in the field, so back it goes.

This seems like an easy thing to catch during QC inspection, especially by people with the reputation of Leica to uphold.
