Lee Martin Posted September 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Panasonic have just posted(via B&H ) a video on you tube of the new Panasonic LX 100 which may well be cloned and announced tomorrow. It's high spec and boasts a Leica lens with some ed glass and on paper at least looks impressive
Advertisement Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Hi Lee Martin, Take a look here New Leica. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jjb Posted September 15, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks! Completely missed that. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5JmK5sCcqlo, and http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_XqrU-i1LMc. Looks like it has WI-FI, f1.7-2.8 summilux, 1/4000 shutter speed, choice of aspect ratios, fast auto-focus, 4K video. I assume Leica will announce their own customized model.

Paul Reading Posted September 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 16, 2014 If Leica release a Digilux 4 based upon the DMC-LX100 could if accommodate a T-Mount? I really hope so. I am not very good with sensors but if a T mount could be accommodated what factor would apply to the T-Lenses?
Archiver Posted September 16, 2014 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2014 It would surprise me greatly if Leica did not add the LX100 to their stable. With features like shutter speed dial, aperture ring and rangefinder styling, it is the most Leica-like camera Panasonic has made in years. It will beat the LX7/D-Lux 6 for image quality easily, and offer a fast lens alternative to the X Vario.
jaapv Posted September 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 16, 2014 It IS a nice camera, and rather "Leica-like". I guess we'll know soon whether Leica will re-enter the arena of 4/3rds cameras. Maybe finally a successor for the Digilux2?
jaapv Posted September 16, 2014 Share #7 Posted September 16, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) And yes Leica reenters the 4/3rds arena. :) Very nice, I'd say

luigi bertolotti Posted September 16, 2014 Share #9 Posted September 16, 2014 Hum... this move to 4/3 and with such a fine (apparently) camera, seems to me that creates a bit of confusion around the X Vario... ... ok that it's a "PanaLeica" and doesn't sport the "made in Germany" of the X Vario... but target is similar... j_w_davies Posted September 16, 2014 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2014 The X Vario hasn't been a sales success, so I'd expect it to be quietly dropped.

Maybe finally a successor for the Digilux2? at least with panasonic engineers they can put a EVF in a smaller body then the new X typ 113 anyway i m not crazy about both panasonic...now they found this cheap way to do multiaspect sensor....to use the standard 16mp sensor and to crop at 12mp well panasonic....instead to go forward you are going back...the ORIGINAL multiaspect sensor used in GH1 and GH2 was a sensor bigger then 4/3 in size...and so when using the multiaspect you could have used all pixel...instead to drop from 16 to 12... so a real multiaspect sensor must have more mp then 16 and being longer and taller in mm then 4/3 sensor (like was for GH1 and GH2)

Even cropped 4/3 sensor is a lot of pixels on such a small camera. Small body, fast zoom, built in EVF, manual controls for speed, aperture and exposure compensation Panasonic and Leica clone are probably best thing to come from Photokina in compact camera category.
peterv Posted September 16, 2014 Share #14 Posted September 16, 2014 The camera/sensor/lens combo that leicatraveller describes would be 'much' bigger. I'd use the new D Lux for birthday parties, family snaps, etc. In that case 12 MP is more than enough.
mreddington Posted September 16, 2014 Share #15 Posted September 16, 2014 I just came back from Photokina. The DLux is a very nice camera. Its design is indeed very Leica-like and it fits well with the M and XV. By comparison the LX100 is rather ugly. The new DLux is, however, significantly larger than its predecessor. It is certainly attractive to me but would not so easily slip in a small pocket like my trusty DLux 4. Martin
williamgm Posted September 16, 2014 Share #16 Posted September 16, 2014 I'll keep my wonderful Digilux 2 - the lens is perfect, and I hate zooms that extend & retract. Also, clever though it may be, I could never take that Panasonic lens cap/cover seriously….
Thomas Chen Posted September 16, 2014 Share #17 Posted September 16, 2014 well panasonic....instead to go forward you are going back...the ORIGINAL multiaspect sensor used in GH1 and GH2 was a sensor bigger then 4/3 in size...and so when using the multiaspect you could have used all pixel...instead to drop from 16 to 12... so a real multiaspect sensor must have more mp then 16 and being longer and taller in mm then 4/3 sensor (like was for GH1 and GH2) Maybe that's because Panasonic factors in the 4K video capability. However,I hope that color rendering from D-Lux type 109 can be in par with that of D-Lux 4. From my own percpetion in use experience, that of D-Lux 4 is beter than D-Lux 5, and that of D-Lux 5 is better than D-Lux 6.

I would take the Dlux 109 for the look & leica after sales service, warranty.
dorman Posted September 16, 2014 Share #20 Posted September 16, 2014 I am very pleasantly surprised by the price of the new D-Lux compared to the LX100 in the UK. LX100 - £799 D-Lux - £825 Can't wait to handle one.
