Default wax seal:69

Hi friends...JUst got a leica M3, with a wax seal with 69 number engraved. I know some repairers have an id number, but did google and I cant find what this number means.
Any advice here?

Mais non, monsieur. The previous poster was making a lewd comment.

I wish him all the fun of a Toyota MR2

Actually,

Bob is correct - the '69' stamping does indeed belong to a Leica service somwhere in the world. I do distinctly remember that '69' was among the assigned codes and my feeble brain seems to recall it belonged to some US or Canadian repair station. I could be wrong though......

Once upon a time, I found a listing of assigned stampings but for the life of me can't remember where. The stylized 'L' of course stood for Leitz in Wetzlar, 'C' was from the Canadian Leica agents during the 1960's and 70's - Walter A. Carveth.

Best,

Jan
