Default Leica story, missed it by that much.

Back in the early 1980-s I worked for a reputable mid-size photo dealer with several stores around Philadelphia Pa. ( It was a well run business and is still going, which is actually a tribute to the integrity and hard work of the owner)

It had a store in the Granite Run Mall, and one day, around July 1995, a gentleman entered the store with two old cameras which he wished to sell. The store manager could not identify the cameras and they looked old, 35mm and a bit worn, so he declined to purchase them, but one of the other employees was looking for a 35mm to take general pictures, so he asked the manager if he could buy them, and a price of $50 was agreed for both of them.
Later to discover that one was a dial-set model B..1985 $9000.....

I was at the main store at the time, and found a corner and cried...

David
That was the same year I used my disposable money to buy a 105mm Nikkor and missed out on an Ermanox Ernostar...
