Default Original Benser Zip Bag

I have been asked to try and find out whether this item has any great value or scarcity. It is an

Original Benser Zip Bag
Extra Large

It's in pretty well mint condition, in its original box. Very nice, high quality, black leather. It's shaped a bit like an ever-ready case, but doesn;t have a drop fron - rather the whole bag drops away when unzipped. I'm presuming it was designed by Walter Benser, and made on his behalf (not by Leica though).

Does anyone have any information please?

Well, I have one, bought in about 1970 and used occasionally with my Ms. Its a bit too soft to protect the camera really but useful to keep the dust etc off a camera when carried inside a briefcase, for instance.

I have one myself in mint condition for an R4,5,6, etc. series with motor, which also zips wide open, is Black Leather. I have no idea either of value. Sorry. Maybe the Leica Historical Society would know?

Claudio

Many thanks for this link. (My wife translated it for me!) I also very much enjoyed the English edition of his book "My Life with Leica" when I read it a couple of years or so ago.
