Frage Vintage Camera Dealer London

Hi everybody,

next month I'll spend some time in London and Oxford.

Any suggestions for vintage and used camera-dealers, not exclusively leica?

thanks

yours NO

If you do a search for London Dealer Dealers you will find lots of threads, like this one which mentions most of the central London shops.

Aperture is worth a visit and Classic Camera, as well as Jacobs are all nearby.

Its also worth picking up a copy of Amateur Photographer which usually has plenty of s/h eqpt dealers ads in the back.

If you are in London on May 18th visit Photographica Fair there should be many dealers including some Leica dealers attending and many rarities for purchase.

Richard Caplan is also worth a visit, looks a bit 'posh' but they are nice people and prices are fair.
Aperture doesn't open till 12.00 on Saturdays!

I just bought a 50 Summilux of Richard Caplan two weeks ago - despite the shop being 'posh', condition of equipment was superb and the prices matched. I had a good look around at a whole load of dealers and whilst there was a lot of choice of Leica gear some was thrashed and utterly overpriced (usually from none specialist dealers who clearly think that Leica + pricey regardless of condition I saw 21/3.4s and 35/1.4s at £7~800 which I can only describe as 'tatty' and in need of a good service) whilst some was mint or close and appropriately priced. After a day walking around (and getting sore feet) I came to the conclusion that the best dealers were the specialists like Caplan and their stock was well worth paying a little more for because it is good stock!
