Default M3 with M4 hardware?

Well the M3 finally fell of the UPS truck and it's most interesting. It is an M3 single stroke body but it has the M4 advance lever, frame preview and self timer levers. Should I assume this was done at some time in it's live or could it have come this way? It's serial 1022xxx but I've not yet check the production date but assume it's rather late. Looks like it's going to Sherry K. for original hardware.

I guess it is 100 % certain this was done sometime into the cameras life. I have seen it the other way around too, people who prefer the M3 film advance attach it on an M4.

The post inside the flash sync socket looks slightly askew. Better have Sherry give the entire camera a going over.

If I were you, I'd replace the levers with the originals... M3 is always fine, but it's a little disturbing with that transplants... the spares I think can surely be found.

I really prefer the M4 style advance levers but I have to admit that the M4 levers, especially the PV and ST levers, are a little jarring on an M3. Looking at those lugs, this camera was clearly a user (which meshes with the info you posted about where it came from).

The on thing they should have changed, they did not. Sync terms. I put the M4 ones in, although not as good, the cords are easily available. The stupid adapter poke me in the eye.
