Default Leica I with Hektor 50/2.5 from 1931

Hello,

Can anyone help me with the approx. value of this? Absolutely not mint but not too shabby either. I don´t have a picture of it right now.

Thanks in advance,

Gunnar

Nobody? I only need a rough value for this. I´d say the camera is in C condition.

Thanks.

Gunnar,

Since you insist...

As per McKeown's guide:
"Serial number range 40,000 to 60,000 - relatively rare, but not as appealing to some collectors as the other early Leicas. Exc+ condition US$2,500 to US$3,000. Super clean: US$5,000 to US$7,000."

The above is a verbatim quote from the McKeown's bible. So is this: "Value of equipment is entirely dependent on the mood of the buyer and the seller"...

So - any value that anybody can give you is irrelevant. You know how much you are willing to pay for the camera and only you know how much you want it. The seller again is the only one who knows how much he needs to sell it or, whether he needs to sell it at all.

All the best,

Jan

Thanks Jan,

This is an internet auction and the starting price is around $1000. I will report back if I win.

Best regards,

Gunnar
