Lächeln Newbie says Hi

I've only just found this forum, otherwise I would have been here a long time ago. I just wanted to say 'Hi'. I use LTM mainly, a couple of nice black paint fifties converted cameras. Very fond of the little 5cm Elmar, and also an early 2cm Russian lens. I used to have a M6, which I don't miss, and a M3 which I do. I have been thinking of buying a black paint M3 (or possibly M2) if I can find a nice one. Anyway, great forum, you seem like a nice bunch here :-)
Best wishes
Scott

Welcome to our forum ! This area is not so popular as others, and a newcomer with LTMs to speak about is very welcome; your russian 20mm is very interesting... uncommon, and a lens I'd like to have... letters are cyryllic... I seem to remember it's sometime referred to as the "Russar 20", but I'm not so sure of this...have you some historic infos on it, and maybe some pictures taken with it to post ? If I had one, I surely was curious to test it on M8 to confront with Leitz Super Angulons ...

P.S. I red with more attention the lettering ... "PYCCAP" I think can be effectively translitterated to "RUSSAR"...

Splendid spot to introduce yourself. Many of us use III's of all specs and enjoy them tremendously ( I have an "f" and a "b"). Please post pix taken with the Russian lens when you get a chance.
Regards

Welcome! I have a lllf which I use regularly, and recently added an M2. I had an M3 a while back and at the time decided I preferred the lllf so I sold the M3 and replaced it with an R3 SLR which I also still use.

The 5cm Elmar is a great lens, the perfect match for an LTM body.

We have a photo competition just for us LTM users - see the thread on the Barnack Challenge - next one starts at the weekend.

Hi Luigi, I have the box and finder too. I will add a pic of it. I bought the lens secondhand about ten years ago. I have alot of photographs from it, it is a great lens. I never had the money for a 21mm so I can't compare. The russian lens is nice and small but the finder bulky. I got so used to the angle of view in my mind that I didn't need the finder anymore. I will try and get some pics up from it. Incidentally, I have seen several on ebay, but not early old black enamel ones like this. I saw an old chrome version at a camera fair once. Russian 20/5.6 LTM Lens for a review of the Russar 20mm

Scott,
I'll let you in on a big secret: neither can I and neither can Bill - if I may be so bold as to speak for him - that's the challenge of it, we're all starting on an equal footing, regardless of our location as in The One Challenge: we're asked to submit a picture that will reflect our personal view.
The first Barnack's challenge theme was:Faith. How's that for a theme? Compared to it, this one is really focused

I've got no idea either! I'm going for a walk later with the lllf to see if anything grabs my attention. Living in London, random acts of kindness are very hard to find

Damn!

My secret is out!

Philippe is absolutely right - I have no idea. I have the odd thought, but that, to me, is part of the challenge!

Regards,

Bill

I have loaded the IIIg on the off chance that during a week of IT convention, I'll stumble on an odd random act of kindness but, somehow, I am not convinced... It's the random element that bothers me, of course: acts of kindness are the easy part

Philippe, I definitely think you have the wrong audience there for acts of kindness

Bill
