koray Posted February 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I came across this oddity (check out eBay item number 351310132427). Anybody knows how many of these early knurled focus Summicron-M 50 v3 were made? Value for collectors? Koray.

luigi bertolotti Posted February 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2015 The real oddity is that it focuses to 0,7m...
luigi bertolotti Posted February 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 17, 2015 Sorry... forget my previous post... I didn't look with care at the ebay item : it is a 11817 so it is normal that focus is to 0,7m/28" : with this kind of finishing (black anodized and scalloped focus ring) it is not SO common (was made like this for a pair of years around, then the focusing ring was modified) , but neither is rare (Summicron was made always in large batches... see our Wiki section... this finishing is identified as "black SFK") : let's say that it is one of the less common "standard" Summicrons, which, if in "collector grade" (the ebayed item is not so) surely deserves a above average value... the asked price looks not indecent... but personally I would take it only after hands-on.
joeswe Posted February 18, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 18, 2015 Just in case anyone considers to bid on this item: While the seller has a 100% positive feedback, I personally would stay clear off his offers. His "interpretation" of Ebay rules and local law appears to be rather dubious, to put it mildly. 1) Item condition: The item is listed as "USED" condition (according to Ebay rules this means "fully working condition"); the title of the auction, however claims the item is "slightly defect" and the description of the item says it suffers from separation and the lens is sold as "for parts". 2) Return right: In Germany a fourteen day return period is mandatory by law for all commercial sales through the Internet (there are some very minor exceptions, but they do not apply here). For the return right, it is absolutely irrelevant whether the item is categorized as brand new, used, defective or broken. Consequently, a commercial lister cannot "deactivate" the return option in his Ebay listings. To solve this "problem"; this seller tries to work around the law by including a contradictory statement in his artcile description ruling out any returns ... This two points alone would make me walk away from anything this seller has to offer ...
