"How the Leica was Created by Oscar Barnack"

a rather nice and humorous article by Herr Barnack from the book...

“ Rare and unusual screw mount Leicas and accessories described by Paul-Henry Van Hasbroeck Vol 1 part 1”

Photo Historical Publications 1979

a rare book given to me from my dear son.

cheers Dave S :)

Hi David, how do you rate this book? is it worth getting over others, thanks Rob

Hi Rob

My edition is a hardback in maroon colour, only 300 printed. But I did see a reprint on the web a while ago.

It has some lovely old B&W images of Leica stuff, staff, personalities and plenty of history. About 100 unpaginated, A4 format. It's not a complete catalogue by any means...Dennis Laney is your best bet there.

For the Leicophile, I'd say a very worthwhile book. Just for the Barnack paper alone, it's worth it...I've not found this essay anywhere else on the web; hence I post it for our Members.

cheers Dave S :)

Hi, Rob.

Henry Van Hasbroeck,s book was first published in 1979, and was companion to "Leica-Rare and unusual 'M' series cameras and accessories" published one year earlier. Both books - like new - are available.
