Curious Weston LEICAMETER with futuristic font?

I stumbled upon this awesome LEICAMETER on ebay, apparently from 1934 according to westonmeter fan site. Photos attached below.

 

The curious thing is the typeface used for the Leica text. It resembles the modern Leica font, as one can see on M6 and many other R cameras.

 

I wonder if I am reading too much into it...

Is the first Leicameter - Weston model 627, a very tasty collectible - the writing is normal (probably, being built by Weston, they hadn't the dies to make Leitz-style fonts... or maybe they even weren't allowed to do...)

 

A similar item was auctioned in 2007 at 700 Euros around.
