Advertisement Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Hi sub772, Take a look here LHSA 2014 Raffle - open to all. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
M9reno Posted June 14, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2014 Seems an interesting way to get people to join the LHSA: hold a raffle open to non-members of the LHSA. Can't quite see the logic.
masjah Posted June 14, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2014 Seems an interesting way to get people to join the LHSA: hold a raffle open to non-members of the LHSA. Can't quite see the logic. But maybe the aim is simply to raise more money by selling more raffle tickets, in which case widening the field doesn't seem such a bad idea? M9reno Posted June 14, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2014 True, though how many tickets need to be sold to break even on the cost of the first prize alone? I also see that an enticement to join consists of lower priced tickets.
DigitalHeMan Posted June 14, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 14, 2014 This post is just commercial advertising as far as I am concerned. It's the OP's first post, he hasn't introduced himself, and presumably represents LHSA. Not really in the spirit of the forum in my opinion.... I suppose it is really (though the LHSA is not to my knowledge a commercial, profit making outfit; rather a society of fellow Leica enthusiasts) so, purely speaking for myself, I'd be happy to cut them some slack.

Thank you, John. I am a member of LHSA, and it is certainly neither commercial nor profit making. It is a group of enthusiasts and collectors too, and helps preserve the history of Leica, among other things. The LHSA "Viewfinder" is a well done publication worth reading if you are interested. Even if you don't buy tickets, perhaps a look at what LHSA does before judgment is passed. So, yes, a little slack is appreciated.

My issue is not with LHSA, but with a poster whose only post is to promote a third party website without even introducing him or herself. Had the post been posted by somebody who already had a reputation on the forum, such as yourself, Alan, then I wouldn't have seen a problem with it at all. Had the post been posted by somebody who already had a reputation on the forum, such as yourself, Alan, then I wouldn't have seen a problem with it at all. That is a fair point, though you are giving too much credit to my reputation. In any event, please consider the original post endorsed by me with encouragement to all to support LHSA.
