wlaidlaw Posted March 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I needed to give my M4’s infinity cam a very small tweak. In the past I have done this with the tip of curved blade on a small pen knife, ground flat but I would really like to get a proper oblique ground 3 or 4 mm fine flat blade screwdriver. Does anyone know if you can buy one of these or is it a question of going down to the grinder in my garage and modifying an existing screwdriver? I don’t like using an S shaped right angle screwdriver as I think it is difficult to get the required precision of adjustment. I have to say the 2mm hex socket screw on later M’s, does make life very easy. I have used the knife blade for the moment and luckily the intermediate adjustment seems fine, as I hate adjusting that. giordano Posted March 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 27, 2014 Wilson, I've never in my life seen an oblique-ended screwdriver that wasn't home-adapted. But the old US Army repair manual for the KS-15 (M2) says the tool for this job is 42-253.01-703W2, for what that's worth. How about finding a screwdriver with a suitable tip and taking a little blowtorch to it? Bend to shape, quench and temper.

John, I wonder how many of those have been thrown in rubbish bins in US surplus stores “what the #¢** is that weird screwdriver?” I think re-grinding the tip so that it is more or less in line with the handle would work better than a screwdriver with a bend. gyoung Posted March 27, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 27, 2014 I have seen M rangefinder adjustment tools on ebay a while ago. I have done vertical adjustment on an M6ttl with a small screwdriver filed to suit. Gerry Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
wlaidlaw Posted March 29, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted March 29, 2014 Here is my homemade adjuster for all M’s that have a cheese head rather than a hex socket head screw on the RF infinity cam. I used an rusty old screwdriver from my dead tools box, no doubt one that had been left out in the garden to mature by some family member. I keep these old bits and pieces to make special tools for use on various old cars. That seems to fit perfectly and is much easier than using a blunted curved knife blade which I have used in the past. Unfortunately there is no moon tonight to do a final adjustment but if I can find Jupiter that might do. In the UK there is far more light pollution than I have in France, where my house is up in the hills and local village has very subdued lighting, which makes using Jupiter easier to see for setting an infinity. The tool is available for rent for a pint of beer Wilson Welcome, dear visitor!
