ironringer Posted March 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could users of the screwmount Summarit 5 cm f1.5 lens please inform us what type of filters it uses - bayonet, threaded screw-in, or maybe both? a) Internet pictures of this lens show an inner thread at the lens front rim, for (I assume) some size of screw-in filter. This lens also appears to have a bayonet-mount ring with a small slot, on the outer front rim, for (I assume) Leica's "Filters in bayonet mount, 40 mm diameter" (as listed in their 1953 price list) bayonet filters. c) Internet pictures of "Summarit f1.5 filters" show a bayonet mount with a small slot and rim, looking the same as the outer rim of the Summarit lens. How these two bayonet rings (of the lens and filter) could fit together, I cannot visualise. d) On the internet I have not seen screw-in filters for the Summarit f1.5 lens, although pictures of the lens show the threaded inner front rim (mentioned above). Perhaps there were different versions of the Summarit F1.5, with different filter mounts? I will appreciate guidance about this lens, and the correct Leica filters for it. doubice Posted March 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2014 The 50mm f:1.5 Summarit can take both - bayonet and E41 screw-in filter. E41 of course meaning 41mm - 'E' for 'Einschraub' or 'screw-in', as opposed to 'A' which stood for 'Aufsteck' or 'push-on'.....for a little bit of Leica lingo..... All early version of the lens had the provision for bayonet filters and E41 filters, late lenses did not have the bayonet fitting any more and only 41mm filters could be fitted. There also were many variations of the lens, with different aperture scale orientation, different mounts etc. Simply put - all 1.5/50mm Summarits will take 41mm filters. Cheers, Jan
