Charlie, i just sold my M4. Hated to see it go but I prefer my M3 because I only shoot film with a 50 cron and I decided to get down to just one film body. I use a yellow filter when there are clouds present. And that's it. I looked into the polarizer setup that Robert White sells in England, but rejected it because it seemed to soften the image. Your experience may be different as different film and lenses seem to react differently. Anyway, enjoy your camera.

Solved the problem of the revision: about 170€! And now I am a lot more sure of the camera "good state"..
For the filter I have found a new leica filter with the right diameter (43) but it is not a simply uv filter, it is an uv/ir filter designed for the m8.. It would be a bad idea to use it on my summilux? thank-you! |

I confirm that the best CLA for Leica camera in Italy you can get to SAM.CA (Sammartino e Casanova) from Genova, historical Leitz Service. They got experience to Leitz Wetzlar training service. A CLA for your M4 (for example) cost about € 250. To the end of well job they apply seal "G" on your camera. So your advance lever will be silk smooth "horse pair", neither Solmser Service will tend with this results. When i move the advance lever of my M2-R with care CLA of SAM.CA it look like the silent and sweetness smooth of the first M3. Theys still use the famous six Leitz special greases for the correct lube of ancient Leitz camera.
Buona serata a tutti fratelli, tra poco tornerà il mitico marchio Leitz Wetzlar sui prodotti grazie al Dr. Kaufmann che sta preparando un ritorno a Wetzlar in grande stile con il Leitz Park. Vielehn dank Dr. Kaufmann.... for the next return to the great classic brand Leitz Wetzlar Gmbh. Wundebar! Ciao giuseppe |

Charlie, I had an M4 for about the same time as you. Incredibly sturdy bodies, won't need a CLA unless you really get something out of whack. I reluctantly let it go as I was reducing my film body collection to just an M3 which I prefer because I only use a 50 cron for film
