pico Posted December 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have read all I could find about the Leica "Monté en Sarre", including the threads here, most of which were in German. However, I can be tricked. Do you think this is the real thing? (The lens has to be wrong, however. No?)
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Hi pico, Take a look here Monté en Sarre? Again. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sabears Posted December 22, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 22, 2013 Maybe or maybe not, we need to see the serial number engraved inside, no question!

sabears Posted December 22, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2013 Inside? I did not know the SN is inside as well. Where is it? Thank you. It's under the topplate, engraved on the chassis, needs a technician but it's worth... cheers.
Pecole Posted December 23, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 23, 2013 It's under the topplate, engraved on the chassis, needs a technician but it's worth... cheers. Just for your information - waiting for the confirmation of the number engraved on the chassis - "your" Monté en Sarre looks genuine to me. Here are the serials of the four Monté en Sarre in my former Fontenelle Collection : 359101 (in 1986), 359135 (in 1983), 359293 (in 1987) and 359305 (in 1987). Especially noticeable is the fact that they ALL had "sharkskin" body covering.
George Furst Posted May 16, 2014 Share #6 Posted May 16, 2014 Yes I have number 359134 and when you remove the top cover there the serial number is obvious. That is the only sure way to know if it is a real one. My lens number is 774196 (1950) that is in the expected range for the original clens suplied with the camera but who knows as lenses are too portable and seldom stay with the original camera in the long run.
