Default Holland is skating

Today about 75,000 people in the Netherlands went on for tours like this (and that's a lot for our country). It's not always this beautiful weather here.

A very pleasing image.
When was the last year it was cold enough to do this?

I'm not sure, but at least 7 years ago.

Harald,
I thought that it was some while back.
I have old photos of a local (small) lake and accounts of the "annual skating competitions"; as far as I can remember (I'm 57 ) this lake has only frozen enough for skating on 3 or 4 occasions in my lifetime. Last week-end it had about 15mm ice. Global warming/climate change??? If so, hardly a new event.

Any more shots?
