Default 60th Anniversary of the battle of the Somme

I posted a similar shot to this in the old forum, but this time I've gone for a black and white approach - it seemed more appropriate somehow. Teken in Northern France.

I may have mentioed this before, but one of the things I wasn't expecting was the sheer number of cemeteries. I'd assumed that there would be several large ones, but in fact in thes part of France there were lots and lots of small ones. I say small, but each one contained a few hundred men. A few hundred tradgedies, a few hundred grieving families, a few hundred sons not returning home.

No more cemetery photos for a while, I promise!

Canon 5D, 180mm Elmar.

Agree with Stewart.. also with a profound sense of sadness....

Maybe closer to Rememberance Day....it will be ok
Wasn't the Battle od the Somme..July 1rst 1916...so July 1rst 2006 minus 1916 = 90 years ago

John

You are correct. simple typo, no doubt.

There are as many powerful photos to be taken here as there are graves.
