John -

Terrific composition, depth, tonal range and details. Also fairly timeless within the 150 year history of photography.

Nice part of the world and a good shot to show it off.

Keep them coming John.

Hi John,

I realy like your shot and am especially interested in it because, in a few weeks, I will be making my first trip to England and will be in Derbyshire for a few days in mid-late October.

I have tried to find the Longdendale Valley on my maps, but have not met with any success. Can you please enlighten me?

Ian,

the valley contains a chain of reservoirs feeding water to Manchester which, at the time of its construction in the 1860s, was the largest in the World. Now it's got many pleasant paths for walking, cycling or horse riding.

See Wikipedia for more information - Longdendale
