Default Eringa Waterhole

This oasis is in the far north of South Australia, in the desert just south of the Northern Territory border. We were travelling up the abandoned 'Ghan' railway line which, due to the now-absent sleepers and track, has rather severe corrugations! The waterhole is a magnet for birdlife and other wildlife seeking moisture in the arid surrounds. R6, 21mm 1s @ f11; Fuji Sensia.

Ian -

You have a superb eye for color and color composition (3rd one today, and maybe there are more on the site for me tosee!). Sad to say I've never been that far north in SA, or that far south in NT.

Contrast between the water mirror and the satin sky (mostly cold tones)
and the helicoïdal wrinkled tree (mostly warm tones) is enchanting.

Ian, this is a cracker. The quality of the light is amazing and I love the stillness of the water.

Thanks everyone. I love the outback and the 'alpenglow' just after / before sunset / sunrise is a magical time for outback photograph - mind you, there are few landscapes that are as magnificent when the sun in low in the sky. And the silence!
