scho, I have similar images from Cumberland Island, just down the road. It's interesting to compare the rendering of your Zeiss to my Cron ASPH.

Carl -

Lovely composition and atmosphere. The tones almost look like this is an infrared photo.

Stuart beat me to it. It has lovely fairytale-like quality to it.

John,
Nice images from Cumberland. Unfortunately, I didn't make it down there on this trip. The Zeiss is a high contrast lens and was probably not the best choice for this contrasty lighting. I had to use a contrast mask post processing to get the lighting balanced.

Thanks Stuart and Bojan. Yes, it does have some of that ethereal infrared quality, but it was a normal RGB image converted to grayscale in Lightroom with a contrast mask applied in CS3. Here is an infrared shot in an old cemetary at Christ Church, St. Simons Island. Also, M8 with the 35mm Biogon but with a B+W 092 IR pass filter instead of the usual IR/UV cut filter.

Carl, echos of another era in the toning and composition. Lovely place & image.

Thank you roguewave. It is indeed a very special place worth a visit. Here is one of the old "Grand Daddy" live oaks that was probably a small sapling when General Oglethorpe was fighting with the Spanish at this site.
