Default Derwent Steamer

It has been a long time since my last post. Autumn / winter has little opportunity for using my Leicas but these grab shots using the minilux worked out better than I thought and gives an impression of a wider angle lens than the 40mm.

Misty day by Derwent Water November 2007, Lake District, England. Minilux 40mm f2.4 Old TMAX400, ~f8/f11 1/90th,1/180th. Adjusting the curves in Photoshop after the scan is the tricky part. Print seems grainy but the fine detail is somehow smaller / sharper than the grain clumps in the mist. Not sure how that happens.

Hope you enjoy.

Blimey, Lincoln, where've you been!? I was only thinking about you the other day.

I really like the second one here - the softness is just right and the rocks in the foreground are perfectly placed. Nice one.

Lincoln,

I agree with Andy, the second shot has great atmosphere.

Lincoln, love them both. The ship's wake provides an arresting alteration in the horizon, against the stillness of the shallow water & rocks. Well done.

Lincoln -

Based on these you have been depriving us of your images. Beautiful in mood, composition, light, depth, contrast and tonal gradations

Guys,
Thanks for your kind comments. In 2007 I did not get much chance to go anywhere new. I had a summer trip to Corfu with the usual beach snaps then in November I had to use some holiday up and went to the Lakes. This day, the first, was probably the best as the rest were either threatening rain or pouring down. I happened to have TMAX in the minilux and velvia in the MP but the moody still lake was just right if a little dull and overcast.

I hope to be more inspired this year. I have bought a Panasonic LX1 which I thought I would enjoy using but the relatively low quality and poor view finder (monitor) has inspired me to get out more with my film cameras and try to get an eye for B&W. I'm trying to source the new TMAX 400 but it seems we can only get it from USA or UK distributors who can get it from USA direct.
Regards, Lincoln

Is this the T-Max you are looking for? Just over two quid a roll.

Andy,

As I said Photoglossy seem to be delivering the new TMAX400 now that I have one. That pic is of the TMAX 400 before the last one (I think). There is no change in part number so compaines will need to run out of the old stock before new stock comes in.

I might risk another order with Photoglossy so that I have more of the new stuff. If the hype is right we probably won't need the TMAX100 either.

Regards, Lincoln
