Thank you Doc but my M8 is still at Leica. This was from Dec when it broke. Any day now it should be here...I hope.

Caryl -
I too was about to congratulate you for getting back your M8. Excellent composition, but there seems to be a slight veil to it, correctable with just a touch of post processing (2 different versions): |

Stuart, it was taken through a dirty window BUT I worked on it for quite a while and could not get it as bright as you did. What did you use to brighten it? I used shadows and highlights, levels and several other tricks but could not hold the shadows and brighten it.

I still use the ancient ACDSee that came with my first digital camera, the D2. It runs on whale oil, so I have to go to Norway or Japan for fuel. I iteratively slightly increased the shadow and the highlight sliders in the first example, and in the second I just let it's automatic exposure decide what to do. |

Caryl, a pleasant view and experience. I took this same ride as a child and fell in love with trains and the flow of life that surrounds this mode of transportaion. Thanks for the reminder.
