Default Craignish Point

Craignish point overlooks a tidal sluice called the Dorus Mor in the Sound of Jura, the many small islands in the area cause the tide to flow at 8 knots

Comments / Criticism welcomed

Chris,
I've played about with the "shadows and highlights" sliders. I think there is maybe just too great a range of contrast to completely fix this image (there again, I'm no PS expert ).
Also, I don't know what this will look like on other screens.

many thanks Pete, I am happy to recieve your expert input, I can see why you played with the shadows and light settings, but unusualy for this part of Scotland I was amazed at just how black those rocks where, and the original photo was a good representation of the true colour.

But your input is very much appreciated, please comment more

Chris

Chris,
If I had to fault the V-Lux my major gripe (apart from the dreadful manual focus fiasco) would be the "richness of colour" with the on-board software set to average or normal, or whatever it is called. My old Panasonic FZ30 (which had the same lens) was far better. I've yet to crack what the settings should be- although one or two of the few V-Lux posters here seem to have resolved it (Bernardo, for example).
Maybe for this shot try leaving the shadows slider fully over to the left and just adjust the highlights? I suspect that we need to fool the light-meter by selecting an area off to the side slightly, when shooting into the sun.
Unfortunately there do not seem to be many active V-lux users here who offer opinions. Maybe we could have a separate forum, like the M8 girls, where we could discus neck straps and handbags?

A little overblown highlights, not easy to overcome, good picture never the less.
Thanks for posting.
Ed.
