It's a memorial of some sort. This was shot from the balcony of my hotel room by CAREFULLY balancing the M8 on the railing and using the timer release. A lot of hit and miss to get the right composition. The hotel is the former Raffles Plaza. Can't remember what the new name is.

First of all - a very good shot.
The hotel is IIRC the Swiss Hotel, and the bar at the top is supposed to be "one of the in places". Regrettably it has an admission policy (read stuffy attitude) that excludes presentably dressed people if they are wearing even smart open sandals.

As for the memorial - see the attached which was taken at the base:

Nice image, I have the impression it is best for these images to underexpose and adjust contrast and brightness later.
