Keith

A very fine urban scene. I particularly like the dynamic range of the colours. The shadowy figures in the shop and the pair walking add to the brooding atmosphere. Finally, the light is well controlled. The road name, Edge Street, would make a great title, as well.

Keith - Agree with Louis; there's a lovely 'crustiness' to the architecture which I vainly hope won't be redeveloped. And that magenta wall is a killer! Very nicely seen and composed.
cheers:

Keith - I like this, solid, gritty image. Nice shadows and plenty of detail in the wall above 'Fine Touch'. I presume this scene will disappear shortly thanks to developers.

Must read my MP's manual and find where the colour switch is

Thank you all for your comments - much appreciated.

This is in an area of Manchester that used to be the centre of fabric and garment manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers. A lot of the merchants were Jewish. The trade ranged from quite high fashion "modes" to "fents" (trade slang for remnants). A lot of it has already been "developed" and in my opinion lost all its character.

Keith,
great picture for me too, because of the colour and light. And because I like this kind of urban pictures. I got that very well.

Regards,
Andreas

A great shot and a perfect example of the sort of picture that just works better on film. Apart from the superior dynamic range there is a grittiness to this shot that I suspect would be hard to replicate on digital.
