Default Alber(t) Dock, Liverpool

What a mess the waterfront in Liverpool is. European city of culture and the thing's just one huge building site. No access to the Pier Head, huge areas of closed entirely to pedestrians. I would have thought they would have had all of that completed before the tourists arrived.

End of rant <grin>

This is the Albert Dock, which has the largest concentration of grade 1 buildings in the country. The only problem is it's as boring and sterile a place as I've ever photographed. In a bit of a rant mood tonight!

Bugger, and I can't even spell the place correctly in the subject line. It should be 'Albert' or course, not 'Alber'

That's what happens when you do 50 years of development in only 3...

Liverpool is going to be even more brilliant when it's finished.

We had our corporate "Strategy Day" in Liverpool on Thursday. Some of my colleagues had never been here and they were unanimously impressed with how great the city is.

Manchester should be worried.

That's not a bad shot, though. Two of my own favourite shots were taken here.

Well I had a great day their last week Steve ( Andy recomended it at the Christmas Lunch) The maritime museum especially the exhibits about u boats was particulary interesting.Going back in a few weeks for some more pics and hopefully some of the builders will be gone.

The Birkenhead U-boat is being cut up to move it across town to a new display site (saw it on local TV news). Strange that they managed to bring it from the Baltic in one piece but have to cut it into pieces to move it a couple of miles.
I do hope that none of the pieces go missing en route.

Steve -

The city may well be boring and sterile, but your photo is warm, quaint, interesting and expertly crafted.
