Yesterday, I tried out my Summicron 35mm lens, taking a 3 hour "canon reinactment" cruise aboard the "Hawaiian Chieftan" which is touring up and down the west coast of the U.S.. I bought the lens used through B&H

Arthur,
An interesting image with good depth. I can't help wondering whether substantially increasing the contrast might not emphasise the strong verticals created by the ropes. I like the image as it is but it might be worth a couple of minutes to find out if there is another good image in there too. Pete.

Thank you, everyone -
Ben, trust me, the crew was there, and scampering like CRAZY. interesting that the ship hires people regularly; I'm sure not for a lot of money, but for the glory of the travel. But do they EVER work hard. The ship carried 45 passengers, and some of the crew members were not even strong enough to pull the ropes, so passengers were having to help them. One crew member had only been working there two weeks, and was already training a new member. I think there is a lot of turnover. Also, because the ship is a replica, and so small (65' length), passengers often found themselves in the way, so it was either "help or get knocked out". Personally, I paid the $50 to go out and take photos, not to help the crew members, so I tried to stay safe wherever there was a spot that I could do so and still try to get some good shots. |

Peter...thank you...what a question (do I have more?) - I love that new lens so much, I think I took 900+ photos (filled all of my 2gb cards). I promise NOT to post all 900; but once I started, I didn't want to stop. Will put a couple more on tomorrow.
