Haven't previously been a "shoot from the hip" type, but combining this style with a 'Superglued" f1.4 aperture ring in poor light conditions I found to be tricky. (not sure this is wide open, but not far off).
Regardless, pushing my boundaries was fun at the time. Thanks for looking. Rolo

Rolo -
Generally, I like this a great deal, and would want you to include the man's motion. But I think controling the camera motion (faster shutter speed, more careful handheld, or tripod) to sharpen the venue would improve the overal image. |

Thanks to both of you.
It didn't really work for me either. I did it a week earlier and left it there on the desktop wondering whether to bin it or not. I should have done, but when the Slieme Ferry image got a positive reception I decided to test the water with this. The image is what it is and there was no tripod to hand and I did what I could without looking through the viewfinder with 100 iso colour film at maximum aperture. Maybe I could have gained a stop of speed by under exposing. Digital would have been much easier, but that was left behind to pursue the Leica experience and I wasn't changing film for this shot. Thanks again. Rolo

Looks pretty cool to me, faster shutter would just produce a record shot, this is art.

On the contrary and not only because I know this priest. I smiled seeing him here and enjoyed this shot alot.
With the small cane basket in front of him, I'm imagining him asking people to throw in some money. ![]() Knowing this church pretty well, and as Rolo says, it's not that bright inside. Another thing that Rolo may have forgotten is that the church depends alot on the sun for light during the day.....the sun that Rolo didn't have much of during his visit I'm afraid. MOMA has not been on the phone yet, but Stuny has connections and they will be. Azzo, I'm pleased his your friend and I apologise for sneaking a shot of him, but I did put some Maltesers in the basket. I have been liberal with the darkening as the image was about the priest's glasses and action. The real issue is that I played safe with colour film and should have been shooting Tri X. I don't want the sun anymore and my personal shooting weather is 'no wind, no sun, no rain'. If I had to make a concession it would be a little rain. Trouble is, in Malta it never stops raining, in my experience. Rolo
