...well, actually, I don't know where this path ends up. Somewhere in south central Wisconsin. M8, 24mm.

There's one way to find out, Brent
![]() I want to know now. That'll be the leading line into the photograph what's done it.

Sorry to sound critical, but there is something wrong with this shot: it just doesn't look sharp, and the colours look super-saturated. Was this on purpose? The 24 on the M8 ought to be really sharp.

Maybe this one will look better. I work on a PC and often find it necessary to post images darker and more saturated than I like in order to have them look acceptable on Macs, which most everyone else seems to be using. Sometimes I go overboard. As far as the sharpness, I think what you are seeing is the effect of an extremely hazy day. I had trouble even making a shot but had to get this done for a deadline rather than bo back on a better day.

Night and day difference, both wrt. saturation and sharpness. The nasty lumpiness is now gone. I had a suspicion that it was something like that. I do use a PC gamma of 2.2 on my Mac, so I wonder what the difference is. Are you on a calibrated system?

Brent -
Almost superb. It seems to be calling out for blue sky. Perhaps you can return and redo it when the sky in that direction is at least partly blue (ideally some blue, but still with the sun behind clouds to preserve the lovely light and colors of the original non-sky portion). |

Yes, always. I work on two computers and calibrate them every 2 weeks with a Monico Optix.

Thanks much, Stuart. I am going to try to get back there. We have some nice weather coming this week.

How strange. I wonder what the difference could be? Calibration is supposed to take the magic out of this and return it to science. Ah, how do you generate the final image on the PC? Might it be that you don't return it to sRGB on the Mac, due to whatever tools pipeline you use?

Could be my eyesight. I should wear my glasses more when working on the computers. I usually don't.
About the sRGB question: I believe when you "Save for web" from Photoshop, the image is automatically converted to sRGB. For what it's worth, the second image also looks far better to me than the first one--particularly with my glasses on.

Instead of saving for web, try manually changing to 8-bit, and then convert to sRGB. Finally save as JPG. This has produced better results from me in the past. I don't know what magic is done in save for web, but I don't like not knowing.
