Pecole Posted March 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 27, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Alentejo region, South of Portugal, is attractive for many reasons : it is one of Europe's sunniest spots, it is as large as Belgium but inhabited by less than 400,000 humans against 11 millions, it is famous for cheese and wines, and has a long history with many architectural testimonies. Not to speak of the kindness of its people. I lived and walked 30 years in Alentejo, and probably "burned" more film there than anywhere else. After digitizing another one yesterday, I wished to share at least a few results with Leica-mates. The three first ones illustrate the little city of Portel, created in 1261, and the last one Serpa, Serpa, near the Spanish border, has a Roman origin and is known today for two very different products : a strong cheese, very much appreciated all over the country, and one of Europe's largest solar power station (11 MW).
