Iduna Posted March 23, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since the eclipse-view did fail at my place I decided to save the day going to the city of Detmold where there is a famous monumnet on top of the hills. It is being called the "Hermannsdenkmal" in memory of the final defeat of the troops of the Roman Empire. It is one of the tourist attractions here and it offers a splendid view over the country on clear days. For a couple of days a lasershow designed by LaserArt illuminates the monument an its forest. That day on the 20th it was very misty which was adding to the atmosphere of the show and provided a softness to the harsh quality of the laserbeams. Welcome, dear visitor! peterbengtson Posted March 23, 2015 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2015 Be careful about shooting laser shows. There are plenty of examples on the internet and you tube of DSLR sensors being fried by a direct hit. Some are quite spectacular but of course a total sensor replacement is required. Iduna Posted March 23, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted March 23, 2015 Peter, yes, thanks for the hint. It's the same with the sun. But I think I got no damage because I know it is also harmful for the eyes. In this case they were hidden and not openly being seen, the mist did soften the whole scenery and my distant position were hopefully safe enough. Iduna Posted March 25, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted March 25, 2015 Stuart, thanks for stopping by and liking the show. Dee, thank you. Yes, you have to keep clicking, because shutterspeed can be max 1/20 sec. To keep noise low not more than ISO 600 with @ f-stop 4. To avoid burnt lights I took into account to have underexposed darks. But to my surprsie they came out quite satisfying. I am glad you like it.

Iduna Posted March 25, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted March 25, 2015 Henry, nice to have your kind comment, thanks Paul, yes, it was fun. Every 30 minutes they started a show and each one was a bit different. It was very cold on top of the hill,so after 3 shows I thought to have got a nice series and packed for driving home. Thanks for stopping by and for your support
