A miller Posted February 26, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Took these in the morning last Thursday on the beach in Chicago while on a business trip. It was at least -30F with the wind and stupid me was with my loafers, thin sock and slacks and no gloves. I had minor frost bite, but the experience was worth it. Taken with my M-A, 28mm Elmarit (pre-ash) and Fuji Pro 400H There was one other guy on the beach that morning. He was going as I was coming. He looked like an amateur to me, but he had the last laugh because his shot made the front page of the New York Times the very next day (see photo below). I guess he didn't have a full day of meetings to run off to (or be carted off to). Would love to hear if any are particularly interesting to you. Best, Adam #1 Welcome, dear visitor! Iduna Posted February 26, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2015 Adam, all are good, no 1 and no 5 perhaps my favourites, but it is hard to tell, because all are giving the impression of an arctic scenario. The scenery is very cinematic and with those light pastellic colors quite a strange abstract drama.

I agree with Iduna Adam, all these snow pictures in contre-jour are stunning Thanks for sharing Best Henry
samwells Posted February 26, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 26, 2015 First one is my favorite - somehow, to me, the b&w looks colder…tho the color ones looks eerily alien cheers: Sam

pico Posted February 26, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2015 Adam, I can't express how invigorating your pictures of the lake shore are. We know how difficult it is to photograph cold. You did it. I walked those shores on the way to Columbia College every weekday, every season, back when the College first started up. Brrr! Wonderful!

A miller Posted February 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted February 26, 2015 Hi Iduna, Henry, Sam, Steve, Pico, and Louis - A huge thanks to you for your feedback. My only regret is that I left my polarizing filter in my luggage at the hotel. I also think it would have been cool to take some shots with one or more different kinds of B&W film; I'm thinking TMAX (for its sharpness) and HP5 (for its enhancement of fog and overall mystical feel) Thanks again for your opinions and all the best, Adam

A miller Posted February 27, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted February 27, 2015 Many thanks, Stuart. Aside from the brutal weather; we would have had fun out there together; and your new camera would have come in very handy
