pauledell Posted December 26, 2014 Share #3 Posted December 26, 2014 Adam, A wonderful stately picture of the bridge with its composition, tones and clarity. Paul
dj_61 Posted December 26, 2014 Share #4 Posted December 26, 2014 Are you sure this is a 50 MM shot?
robert blu Posted December 26, 2014 Share #5 Posted December 26, 2014 There is an "out of time" look in this photo, lovely. The composition, the tones, it must be a satisfaction to have a real print in your hands... robert
zlatkob Posted December 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted December 26, 2014 Are you sure this is a 50 MM shot? That was my question too. Looks more like 35mm, but I could be mistaken.

A miller Posted December 27, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted December 27, 2014 Thanks very much, all. I think you might be right about the focal length. It probably is my 28mm summaron. I went back and forth with three lenses with this roll. I used the 50mm DR the most, and the 28mm the least, and the 75mm lux in between (which clearly didn't take this photo). So I guess I got confused. So 28mm it is (although this being a few steps away from where I park my car every morning, next week I am going to venture out to this point and double confirm. What I like about this film shot is the grayscale grain in the sky, which give it a degree of texture and not just dead space.
dj_61 Posted December 28, 2014 Share #9 Posted December 28, 2014 It is a great shot. The 28mm would explain the perspective and the slight distortion on the pillars.
A miller Posted December 28, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted December 28, 2014 (edited) Many thanks, DJ. I have been thinking about it and really want to go back to that spot and confirm the focal length. It is not crazy that it could be a 50mm. I shall report back. Thanks for raising the question! And as for the pillars, they are naturally articulated like that, so i am not sure there is any distortion, unless it is too subtle for me. Iduna Posted December 29, 2014 Share #11 Posted December 29, 2014 Adam, it is a meaningful picture. The seagull is expressing how we feel like: flying and being happy. Great composition and fine technical rendering.
jedi996sps Posted December 29, 2014 Share #12 Posted December 29, 2014 Great composition, with the seagull really setting it off.

First thing I thought after 'what a great photo' was 24 or 28mm lens.
A miller Posted December 29, 2014 Author Share #14 Posted December 29, 2014 Many thanks, Iduna, Ali and Mark - I may not have EXIM data, but I have negatives and I went back and looked at them and can confirm that it was 100% a 28mm lens. So I stand corrected.
