It's been an enjoyable experience so far, and an easy transition given I also own the Lumix GX-7 so a lot of the menus etc work in the way I'm used to. I wouldn't take the images in this thread as any kind of comment on the capabilities of the camera - I used JPEG (even though I anticipate mainly using it in raw only) just to see whether they were as bad as everyone says, and then post-processed them to death in OnOne Perfect Suite. I suppose one positive is that there is a lot of information there (even in the JPEGs) to allow you to post-process to death!

The light has mostly been flat and uninspiring over the last couple of days, but I hope to put the camera to proper use over the coming weeks. In the meantime the first impressions are very good.

I'm looking forward to using the D Lux more (so far my impression is that it will do exactly what I bought it for, which is to replace both a decent compact [Fuji X20], ageing Lumix GF-1, and the Lumix GM-1 which was very good but too fiddly for my tastes).

Best wishes,

Jon

Hallo John.

A pretty good set it is,considering the type of light you had to work with.I love the last photo with that beautiful sky.The mushrooms also shows very realistic colours and sharpness as well as the leafs.Looks like this camera is a winner! Greetings: John Basso.

These are indeed lovely shots - so lovely in fact that I have decided to explore the possibility of trading in my V-LUX1 for a D-LUX. The V-Lux takes cracking shots but for my current needs it is rather bulky, but knowing that quality I shall consider alternatives very carefully. Initial research does indicate that the D-Lux seems to be a good contender, so long as I can get one with the built in EVF.
