Louis Posted October 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Solvang means "sunny fields" in Danish, according to Wikipedia. This small town was founded in 1911 by a group of Danes who travelled west to establish a Danish colony. It is situated about 45 miles North-West of Santa Barbara. I arrived there at the end of the day ( as I spent my sunny day in Santa Barbara to enjoy the beach). Most of the restaurants and pastry shops were already closed, but of course, the wine tasting business was still running for long!... But frankly, I find all this wine tasting things absolutely ridiculous and only good to attract some tourists! For a high price, they give you few drops of different wines; you mix tastes and cannot really enjoy anything. For that price, I prefer much more to have a good bottle of a good (red) wine! stuny Posted October 17, 2014 Share #5 Posted October 17, 2014 Your timing was excellent for light and relative lack of tourists. When things are open the swarms of people are overbearing. Among the best Solvang photos I've ever seen.
