I wish I could post a larger .png file to show more of the detail. Please excuse any/all artifacts. Kirk MM & MATE @ 35mm (3 file stitched) Welcome, dear visitor! thompsonkirk Posted October 3, 2014 Author Share #6 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Thanks folk and hi K-H – I go out a couple of times a week with an aging hiking group, but never take my camera. It's hard to take pictures when you're with a group, so I just make a mental note of the trails that 'want' another visit. I go back on an overcast morning. I started this 'parkscape' series at the end of June, when I traded the last of my film equipment for a Monomchrom. MM and MATE and carbon tripod – plus trekking poles for a bad knee – make a very light kit. Though I've recently acquired Zeiss 21 and 25mm, for wide angles (as above) I prefer stitching/merging MATE files. That way I end up with a bigger file and more detail. The MATE flares a bit, but I think that's favorable in the pictures I've been making. I wonder how other folks combine their hiking and photography? Kirk PS, I made a mistake in description: it's 2 files with 28mm, not 3 with 35. Edited October 3, 2014 by thompsonkirk PS
k-hawinkler Posted October 3, 2014 Share #7 Posted October 3, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Kirk, I like your approach. Even when I go with one or two photographer friends it's not the same. I need to go by myself and visit a place several times before I get the shots I like.
allamande Posted October 3, 2014 Share #8 Posted October 3, 2014 Kirk, This is terrific! I rarely try stiching but this example gives me courage to try... Ece
thompsonkirk Posted October 4, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted October 4, 2014 Hi, Ece – It's really easy in Photoshop, which does all the alignment and even blends the tones where different files meet. Do give it a try. Maybe LR does this too? Kirk
