DES Posted September 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted September 20, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a lovely day in the Dales with my M8 and D800E............ This is from Souther Scales,I had to do a bit of climbing but it was well worth it. Had one scary moment though, It was a very warm day, but because I was going to spend time on the limestone top of Souther Scales I thought it wise to take a light jacket due to the wind. I put it on as I do not have a larger backpack. Armed with tripod in one hand, small Artisan Leica bag on one shoulder, and Nikon on the other shoulder, I started off. About three quarters up the hill I suddenly felt light headed, and had to sit down, I thought I was going to be sick, if not pass out. What made it worse was I had no signal on my mobile, and although I knew my GPS position I could not tell anyone. Fortunately after about 15 mins. I felt fine. I think I was far too hot, and also out of condition. I took the rest of the day slower. This is a shot that I took on the way up. I will invest in a good backpack in future. tookaphotoof Posted September 20, 2014 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2014 Lovely photo and for the lonely walks without reception, please consider something like a Spot GPS device.
Iduna Posted September 20, 2014 Share #3 Posted September 20, 2014 this is a beautiful almost meditative scenery, wonderful dainty colors and a firstrate composition. God you could walk on after a few minutes. A good backpack is worthwhile an investment of a few bucks. I have one form Tamrac's expedition line and can only recommend it. Water and GPS is a m u s t on lonely tours. Take care!
satijntje Posted September 20, 2014 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2014 Lovely picture Des! Thanks for sharing. I had a serious stroke back in 2009, but recovered 90% to be fine again. I therefore have my limitations, and have to put certain limits for my photo tours, e.g. not climbing not in very hot weather and so on. Once it happened to me that I got dissy, but after some time I could continue, but ended my tour and went home. Take care with your reserves, and take a break from time to time! pauledell Posted September 21, 2014 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2014 DES, Thanks for the lovely picture with its great colors and sharpness. I,too, have my limitations of walking in strenuous conditions so I try to make the best of my physical condition and go lighter than I use to.
