Fall color in the Tombstone Valley, Yukon. Headwaters of the Klondike River in Tombstone Territorial Park. Taken early September on a drive up the Dempster highway to Chapman Lake. Willows, dwarf birch, and blueberry bushes contributing to the rich golds, reds, and mauve colors in the landscape. M8 with CV 15mm Heliar.

Carl,
I'm speachless of the beauty and richness in this picture... Are you aware of how great the dynamic range is here? I like the details, the softness of the sky, the rich colours. Beautiful presented also. What a great moment you have mastered here. (with that cv 15, btw) thanks for sharing, Harry |

Thank you Harry. More images here:
Alaska & Yukon and here is a wide shot of the whole valley. Tombstone Mountain is at the head of the valley (obscured by clouds) and the stream winding through is the Klondike RIver that eventually empties into the Yukon River in Dawson. ![]() Last edited by scho : 09/22/07 at 12:47 AM. |

Carl,
Quite a portfolio you have there; some really good shots, will take me a while to get through them. ![]()

Thank you Pete. I would love to go back and drive the Dempster highway in July when the wildflowers are in blossom and there is essentially 24 hours of daylight. This is an elevated gravel road (the gravel berm keeps the permafrost insulated so the road won't sink in) that runs 600 km all the way from Dawson to Inukvik, NWT. We only drove about 70 km of the road on this brief visit, but the scenery was awesome.
