street of Cherry Trees

this is a 1 km long street in my hometown. It is unique in our region if not in Germany. Every year it is an attraction not only for insiders. It is very difficult to capture this pink paradise because you have always a backdrop of plain more or less dull houses. All shots had to be handheld since twigs with those bunches of blossoms were bobbing nicely in a warm summerlike breeze.

A gorgeous series with the blazing colors. I agree with Hank that No.4 is also my favorite. It is that perfect shot with composition, colors and clarity.

I am afraid there will be no cherries. This is the Japanese botanical type with beautiful blossoms but no fruit. Beautiful but (numb...) But also they are showing in autumn a pleasant colorful foliage.

Iduna, this is a very beautiful set. I am surprised to see these blossoms to be so red. In DC area, they are almost white and sometimes pale pink! It seems, it depends how much water they had during the winter!?... I know how difficult it is to shoot in a big crowd but you did a really nice job!

Louis 2 — a botanist friend of mine once told me that white cherry blossom is a sign of a tree under stress (e.g. a lack of water).

After a VERY wet winter in southern England the blossom onall trees is a joy to behold.

thank you for your interesting an d supportive comment. I always thought there are different types of trees. These trees are in a narrow street with not much traffic where people also have foregardens. Our municipality was planning a tram track there but skipped this idea because people protestet against this assault against the trees.

You've done a great job of conveying the beauty that these trees bring to their environment. I think including their environment enhances the story and puts them in context, and as such, these are very successful. In isolation, though the flowers are gorgous, the viewer has no idea how these trees relate to their environment.

 

I am glad they didn't build the tramway! Wise decision.
