Iduna Posted August 22, 2013 Share #6 Posted August 22, 2013 Alain, great compsition and rendering. he clouds are reflecting the ground and so it becomes a balanced show of the power of nature.
Mixalis Posted August 22, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Excellent tonality, I had to check it wasn't from a Monochrom. The balance between the interesting cloudscape and for foreground is perfect. I could see this print on my wall.
stuny Posted August 22, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 22, 2013 Beautiful. It makes me think of the US southwest.

ravinj Posted August 22, 2013 Share #10 Posted August 22, 2013 Alain - Very, very good. To me (and as Iduna also mentioned), the rocks seem to mirror the clouds and that's one of things making this image special. -R.
newnew Posted August 22, 2013 Share #11 Posted August 22, 2013 Nice classical capture with the good sky tones. Bien vu ! Ali R.
Xavier Forcioli Posted August 22, 2013 Share #12 Posted August 22, 2013 Hi Alain, very nice shot indeed ! Can you describe how you manage the color transition to b&w ? Envoyé depuis mon GT-I9300 en utilisant Tapatalk
EddieB Posted August 22, 2013 Share #13 Posted August 22, 2013 Alain Gorgeous! That sky reminds me of Arizona (my favourite place to photograph). Lovely tonal range - classic black and white shot. Timeless. Thanks for sharing!
Al Leb Posted August 22, 2013 Author Share #14 Posted August 22, 2013 Mike, I wish I had an MM however I would have to master the use of filters (I desperately search for Kodak Wratten for my Hassy). Xavier, more than happy to share, here's my process : 1) I process the raw file with Aperture (first image): spot removal, doge & burn, white balance, light, saturation, curve (S shape), level and sharpness (second image). 2) Using DXO FilmPack I convert to b & w with the use of colour channel adjustments, in this case: yellow -40, green -40, blue -40, no grain added fore this one. 3) Back in Aperture for finishing: light, curve and level again. Et voilà! (third image) These lenses and the M9 give a result a bit like large format; you can guess were my inspiration comes from. Bill W Posted August 22, 2013 Share #15 Posted August 22, 2013 Beautiful. It makes me think of the US southwest. Agree and I like the fence that I can see through the picture. It gives the scene some persepctive.
Mixalis Posted August 22, 2013 Share #16 Posted August 22, 2013 Alain: Filters? I haven't used any filters so far on the MM and am relying solely on post processing in Silvefex Pro. Your post processing sounds profound and I am clearly a rank amateur! I shall watch and learn....
