This lake is frozen most of the year. Ice fishing in July!

Bill,

A great shot and the snow still looks plentiful. I have been there several times in the past but always in late July or early August and the snow was mostly gone. A lovely place if you can avoid the flocks of tourists. I believe this is about the same spot where I set up my 4x5 view camera several years ago and couldn't take a single picture because of the crowd of people around me. I just folded up my stuff and went on growling all the way.

Thanks Dee, Paul, K-H & Stuart.

I lived in Colorado for 25 years and learned to not go to the park in July & August. As Paul said, the crowds can be frustrating. Early June and September are a great time to visit it you want to take Trail Ridge road. The same goes for Glacier National Park but with Going to The Sun road. It is only open for a very short time frame so you will have to deal with the crowds. It is good that so many people are out to enjoy nature but it makes it challenging for a serious photographer.
